Overnight Youth Group Extravaganza

I promised Sarah that this would be my last big ministry event before the baby was born. At this point Sarah and I can’t even hug straight on if you know what I mean. Today at lunch Toby asked mom to do ‘head-clunkies’ with him like Eli and daddy. “I can’t lean over like that” came the reply. To help my ailing beloved I often take Eli and Toby to whatever ministry event. Either bumping in the rearview mirror as we baja down a dirt road or saddled on the mountain bike, these days Eli and Toby are daddy’s sidekicks. So as my last big ministry event before the fourth big addition I wanted to savor the experience. It was a refreshing reminder of the joy and just plain fun that comes from meeting together as the body of Christ.
The event began as just an idea to get our youth together with encouragement and edification as the goal- an overnight youth group involving our three congregations. We wanted it to be cost free as the expense of just getting into the city is challenge enough for our rural youth. I bought 40 sausages, five kilos of bread, and we had two rice salads made as fuel for the fun. (read more here)
