Encuentro Sunday

Today was a LONG, HOT day. Summer is here and today was our monthly encuentro when the three Iglesia Biblica de Caazapa groups (Caazapa, Naymby, Caracara'i) gather together for a full day of worshipping, hearing God's Word, drinking terere, sharing a meal, and celebrating the Lord's Supper.

Today was also a special day for the church as two deacons and a deaconess were instituted before the congregation.

Remberto shared the message on Psalm 37:1-5. This particular psalm is one of my favorites. God specifically used Psalm 37:4 in my life right before Dan and I started dating. This then became our wedding verse and continues to be "our" verse as we meditate on its true meaning within the context of the rest of the Psalm. I've been reading the Psalms lately and was again struck by the intense meaning of the whole of Psalm 37.

After time for terere and the meal, Dan and Ruth led the children in a special song time. I was very proud of Eli for getting up in front of all the people and singing in Spanish. He is usually extremely shy.

As a body of believers we then celebrated the Lord's Supper and prayed together.

By 3:30 PM we were finally home again and ready to cool down! We took the rest of the afternoon as our family day as the next two Mondays are busy and we knew that we needed this time together as a family to get through the next two weeks. The kids splashed around in their kiddie pool, Eli climbed a tree, Dan & I sat with our feet in the water drinking terere, we had pizza like we always do for family day and watched a movie. It was a good, full day.
