Youth Bible Competition

A truck load of youth starting out at 8:00 AM with Dan returning late into the evening around 9:00 PM and me home with three out of four children with high fevers and upset stomachs is what last Sunday looked like. (this Sunday all the kids have bad coughs and runny noses from last week's camp but that is another post)

What was Dan up to this time? For the past couple of months he has been meeting with a handful of youth on Wednesday and Saturday nights to study for the Bible Knowledge Competition that took place this past Sunday in San Juan, an hour drive north on the paved road.

It was hard at first staying behind because I had wanted to go as a family but there wasn't room in the truck with all the youth, 10 total, going. Which is great! Ten youth represented the three groups of the Caazapa church (Caazapa, Naymby, Caracara'i). But God knew and it turned out that because the kids were sick I would have had to stay back anyway.

The Competition went wonderful and our team tied for FIRST in the Bible Knowledge part! Woohoo! We are so proud of them.

There was also a volleyball and song competition, games and lunch.

Everything ended just in time before the rain started. However, Dan was just beginning his journey home for the evening and ended up returning about four hours later because of this:

Did we mention that it is rainy season here in Paraguay right now?

When it rains here the dirt roads turn to mud roads and the buses stop running. The hour drive to drop off the youth turned into a three hour drive as Dan got stuck once and needed to be pulled out and then he pulled two cars out and ended up pulling one of them back into town.
