Super Mom

Some of you have asked how Sarah did with our long road trip back to New York knowing that she was entering into her third trimester of pregnancy. It was a crazy idea to begin with as we planned on camping at some of the National Parks along the way. But things quickly got even more exciting as we encountered wintry weather at higher elevations. Imagine being six months pregnant and having to get up off of an inflatable mattress (with a slow leak) to hike to a bathroom 100 yards away through snowy weather several times each night! We also spent days on the road and I'm proud to say that Sarah did great! She took it in stride- literally. Sarah not only carried our baby up mountains and through caves but on occasion also strapped another one of our children on her back! She gracefully danced her way through 'fat man's misery' at Mammoth Cave National Park...

...skillfully pranced along icy trails in the Rocky Mountains...

...and glided along the rim of the Grand Canyon with eagless like ease.

But of course these feats are small accomplishments compared to what she does on a daily basis.  Nurturing and caring for her family's emotional, physical, and spiritual needs is not an easy task (I know now because I stayed home with the kids last semester while Sarah was in language school).

It is rare to find a woman who is willing to sacrifice her time and independence to fully devote herself to her family.  But my wife is such a woman.  While she would be the first to admit that its not easy she daily embraces her high calling as a wife and a mom.  That's why on the eve of our ninth anniversary together I want to praise Sarah, my wife.  Here's to you Super Mom!

'Her children rise up and bless her; her husband also praises her...'
Proverbs 31:28
