We had hoped the official signing of the papers and turning over of the deed would take place earlier in December but there was one more legality that had to be done. As we were waiting for the big truck to come last Wednesday, Dan got the call that all the paperwork was completed. Immediately he began making arrangements for a representative from each of SIM's church plants to be present. Friday morning they all gathered together in Don Publio's office as our director Paul Dreiling signed the papers. Afterwards they shared a meal together and Dan had the above picture printed for each church.
If you've been following this process in our ministry updates, you will realize what a great day this is! About a year ago we almost bought another piece of property but once the paperwork started to go through, it was realized that this was not the property God wanted us to have. Another property, that wasn't even in the original choices, was presented and eventually unanimously decided upon to pursue. It is even better! God stopped us from buying one piece of land and directed us to what He really had in mind. OUR (meaning SIM Paraguay) property, the one we now OWN, sits near the base of the Yvytyrusu Mountains. It has fairly easy access off a main paved road. There is a reliable water source, a good sized river, right on the property. There is a beautiful view of the mountains.
And the best part? THE PARAGUAYANS CHOSE THIS ON THEIR OWN!! Dan worked long and hard to make this THEIR decision, THEIR camp, knowing that if they feel ownership from the very beginning, the hopes of them completely taking over in the future are so much higher.
Next term we plan to move into the community near the property to help oversee the development of the camp as well as assume our new role of Youth Champions for Rural Paraguay. What a great way to end our first term! God be glorified! Thank you for your prayers!
Praise the Lord! Sarah, it has been such a blessing to follow the journey God has brought your family and you SIM team on. Thanks for sharing! We are counting down the days until you are back in the States!
