I even found an old picture from a practice session (pre-digital camera so this was scanned in). We can't wait to spend time with these friends again and who knows, maybe do another coffee house? Any of you game?!
L-R: Bill Gray (drums...he actually brought his own set for the concert and man, can he play!); David Hough (Dan's brother on viola and mandolin); Jason Miller (piano); Dan (guitar/vocals); and Jen Gray (backup vocals...we LOVE Jen as backup with Dan. She has the most amazing voice!). Oh, and me, Sarah (percussion on djembe and egg shaker. I was six months pregnant with Eli for this concert).
This song is based on Philippians 4:8 and the thought that, "it's in the daily things that really reflect to Whom we belong".
Walk in the Light
A morning in the park, the sun is coming up and I've got my hiking shoes on.
My walk with my friends is complimented by the scents that's coming from the blossoms...
Lavender, yellow, and green, these flowers seem to grow on their own
But the warmth on my back turns my head to the sun and I see, these flowers reach for its warmth
CHORUS:
I'm learning to walk in the light of the Son
And joy fills my heart when the songs that I sing are on the things above
The ways that I spend my time; the thoughts that I let fill my mind
Let them be worthy of your praise
And lovely and pure, faithful and sure, as I walk in the light; the light of the Son
Each petal and leaf, stretching to reach to the giver of life
For without its warmth, each flower and thorn would wither and die
It's the same way with you and I as we walk along this path called life
For where would we be and why would we sing if it were not for Jesus Christ?
CHORUS
BRIDGE
The trees, they reach up for the sky, and so should you and I
For it's not in this world where true life is found
Only the Son; only the giver of life; only Jesus Christ
Only He can make each of our days all worth being around
Each day I must choose where I'll put my mind and how I'll spend my time
I can grumble and complain and dwell in the dark or live in the light
So where are our thoughts right now and who is our heart dwelling on?
'Cause it's in the daily things that really reflects to Whom we belong
CHORUS
Very cool. And hey, I recognize that room! :)
ReplyDeleteI remember when you did an interpretive "dance" to this song at LeTouneau Sarah. I loved it and hope you'll do it again if you do another concert, which would be super!
