Pictures and Thoughts on a Sunday

Going on three days since Dan had to unexpectedly leave (w/o us) and drive thru the night six hours to the city with two guests.  The original "plan" was to leave Friday afternoon(all of us) but I think every single "plan" we and some of our team had changed this week in some way or another and things didn't go as "planned".  I was totally bummed as I was "planning" on going shopping - girl shopping - the kind where I had a LIST.  Well, God's ways are always best, I know this, but I always start to get a little nutty by day three when Dan is gone!  Don't ask him how many times I've texted or talked to him today (he is supposed to be working undistracted on his camp talks).

This could very well be the first ever fire I built all by myself, w/o any help!  Not too bad?  I made it last 4 hours.  I made another one tonight.  It's still going.  Dan needs to chop more wood when he gets home :)

So, I took a few fun shots of the kids and contemplated my place here in San Francisco and the fact that I feel like I have so far to go in speaking the language, even after so much studying.

Mommy's little helpers.  Normally E & T pick up after dinner but these two just wanted to help so how can you say no?  They did a pretty good job (although Sammie did eat Juju's food to "help" him!)

Ready for Daddy to be home!

As I looked about our yard and beyond, my eyes settled on our nearest neighbors, across the street and kitty corner.  They are family as is usually the case around here, family living next to family.

This is the house right across the street.  I took this standing on my front porch, its a bit zoomed in.

The house on the corner.

This is looking from our yard through the church property.  See the teal house?

They live right next to the church but do not know the Lord.  I see kids, little girls, running around playing, and wonder how in the world can I get to know them?  I can't even think of what to say in English let alone wander over there and practice what little Guarani I know.  Lord, could you help me?  Could you help me find a way to get to know them, to be their friends?  It scares me.  My feet are frozen to the safety behind my own gate yet part of my heart longs to step on the other side.  Would you pray with me that God would open a way for me to get to know them?

  1. Praying for you and the family that the Lord gives you comfort and strength while Dan is away, and provides a way for you to get to know and communicate with your neighbors so that they can come to know Him too. Our love to you and the family.
