I had high hopes last week of getting a lot done while Dan was away. He left New Year's Day to pick up a YWAM group, took them to a quick, condensed language/culture orientation and then onto where the youth camp that is happening this week. He got back on Saturday afternoon. That long, on my own, in this heat limited my energy level for sure. I did accomplish a ton like fixing the curtains in the new girls room :), making a crib sheet for the first time (I think my grandma would be proud...I used ones she's made me in the past to help me along), the easiest DIY crib skirt (it's stuck on with colored duct tape) and managed to feed, bathe and keep everyone alive and somewhat sane. So for a list person like me it wasn't everything I had planned but it sure was enough while battling 100 degree heat and incubating a healthy baby girl who is bound to come sometime this year :).
But this week, while Dan is at youth camp Tuesday through Saturday, I am not going it alone. I am staying at my teammates' house in their air conditioned guest room and getting help with meals and the children. I am physically, emotionally and spiritually exhausted right now and so looking forward to this time away from the rural life and my house b/c I am so nesting and can't seem to stop myself from finding more and more that "needs" to get done but realistically I just can't do it!!
Who knows what I might accomplish off my list this time (b/c of course I've made one :) ) but most importantly I'm hoping to get rested and connect with my kids. It bothers me so much that they are bothering me! I love them and they are wonderful but they feel like too much b/c I am drained and that's not right. It doesn't feel right to me either so a break away I think will be great for all of us.
We would appreciate your prayers for Dan while he is at youth camp and for me and the children. We are closer to where Dan will be and the city just in case this girl decides to come early.
We will certainly keep you in our thoughts and prayers as you struggle with some of these things that do not "feel right". I am sure that the hot weather and that little lady you are carrying have a lot to do with much of that. We just returned from two weeks in Tulsa with our daughter and her family. A very active three year old boy and 7 1/2 month old twins. The weekend after Christmas we were joined by son Mike and his family, which include another three year old boy and a six year old girl. It was a wonderful time that we could all be together, but it made me appreciate more how a family that has that many children themselves functions. May God bless you, Dan and the children as you continue your work there.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your break and time away to reenergize. You know the kids love you no matter what so don't be so hard on yourself. (I know easier said than done.)
ReplyDeleteI love you, sis.
