Plan C...again!

Organized Chaos. Rigidly flexible. Being on the mission field and in full time ministry for the past four years has given us a glimpse of what each of these two phrases mean and the effect they have on every day life and when trying to plan something.

For example...

November 16-20 was the original plan for Dan and Greg's backpacking adventure across the Ybytyrusu Mountain Range. They didn't go. Instead they planned to go this week. Right now. They did go and are in the mountains till Friday morning but plans kept changing till basically the moment we all loaded into the vehicles and drove away.

Saturday we arrived back from our not-so mini retreat with a day and a half to unpack and refocus as Dan got ready for this trip. Sunday afternoon the Camerons arrived with the guys' intention of heading out Monday morning. Five youth that Dan has been mentoring and studying the Word with were planning on going.

Sunday afternoon: no one was going. Should Dan and Greg go anyway? Yes, they planned to go.

Sunday evening: Koke was going.

They decided to wait till Tuesday morning to leave so they would have an extra day to pack and organize all their gear and food, etc.

Monday evening: Ricardo was going to go.

Tuesday morning: Tito stops by, sees Koke and Ricardo adjusting their packs and getting ready. He leaves. A half hour later he returns with a backpack and says he can go.

So, after a quick reshuffling of gear, switching out a larger tent for the smaller one and adding some extra food, we all (the three youth, Dan, Greg, Vonni, me and all the children) finally headed out by 10:45 am. (Ricardo was at our gate at 7:00 am) We are expected to pick them back up Friday morning at the other end of the mountain range.

We are super excited that Dan and Greg are doing this trip. Our prayer is that these youth will bond and grow in their walk with the Lord while seeing a side of their own country they don't even know exists. This trip is to help them think beyond the small bubble of their lives in Caazapa and maybe grasp a bigger picture of how God might use them to glorify His name.

Stay tuned for all the details and more pictures!!
