I stocked up on US flags before we left the US. I have a bigger flag hanging in our school/play/guest room. I really think all I need is a Captain America poster. :)

Happy U.S. Flag Day
Today June 14th, was Flag Day for the United States. Yup, home schooling makes this mom feel smart (well, sometimes)! The kids and I had fun listening to patriotic music and reading about where our American flag came from. For Eli's 2nd grade curriculum we've been studying all about the U.S. (Next year we will be "Exploring Countries and Cultures") I've been using My Father's World if you're curious. :)
A little known fact about me: I played the trumpet for six years in middle/high school and was involved in concert band, jazz band and you guessed it...marching band! Who would have thought it would be fun reliving some of those memories with the kids and pretending to play all the different instruments?!
