On the road again

This week we are in the city again, Monday afternoon till Wednesday afternoon. I was all ready to blog about some exciting news today but wouldn't you know that at about 6 pm last night everything changed? Just like that. After one phone call all our plans, the reason we even came to the city this week, were changed. On the brighter side of things though we are able to get lots of other "to-dos" checked off our long list as we prepare for home assignment. Oh, fun things like doctor's appointments, eye appointments, possibly the dentist, even lab work. Yeah, the kids are having a blast! Um, not really but they did do INCREDIBLE yesterday after travelling in the truck for four hours, having one hour to play before heading to the doctor's...all SIX of us...for physicals, vaccinations, the works. They did so well. After that we headed back to identificaciones because wouldn't you know that we still don't have Eli's cedula? After spending over four hours one evening and two the next morning, right before Dave & Hannah came, Eli has to go back again because his name is spelled wrong on the card. Guess what though? After another hour Dan came out with Eli and Eli promptly announced: "No fingerprints Mom." Why? Something about his paperwork not showing up in the system, blah blah blah. Paperwork takes FOREVER here and sometimes I wonder how they keep it all organized when the desks are just piled with stacks of papers with little yellow tabs dividing this one from that one. No file cabinets that I could see! Goodness gracious. Well, we took the kids out for pizza and ice cream after that. 10:30 PM we finally put them in bed. Such troopers.

But in light of the change in plans I think we are doing a good job of using our time wisely. Since the weather has been 95+ the past week, the drive alone was worth it in our air conditioned vehicle. This morning we hung out and watched cartoons and did something crafty in the air conditioned room. This afternoon Dan, Silas and I head out for eye appointments and later tonight I am going to enjoy some girl time b/c I could use a good girl conversation and laughter without little ones interupting!
