Busy Week

Rain. We have had a TON of rain this week. As the warmer weather pushes its way into Paraguay, the thunderstorms that erupt are extraordinary. Normally, with weather like this, things slow down but not this week. I think we've had one of our busiest weeks. Busy yet full. Full of wonderful friends, good conversations and time well spent.

Monday was enough for me for the week but it was just beginning! Tuesday I began homeschooling Eli for the very first time. My first born is five, has a loose tooth, is riding a skate board and now, in school (I'll be blogging more about this soon)! So after a busy morning and Dan being gone all morning we had a quiet afternoon until I had a birthday party to go to at 6 pm and our director Paul Dreiling came to stay in our guest house.

Wednesday was more school, more rain and a cancelled elder's meeting but resulted in some errands being run and a burned out shower head being fixed! (this would be because the wires crossed and started shooting out flames from the faucet while Paul was taking a shower! Live wires, water...no wonder they call them widow makers! We are just thankful it was handy dandy Paul that it happened to and not Fiona, who came later that night!) In the afternoon we had an unexpected visit from teammates Greg and Vonni with their two boys and two other MK boys (who were being taken back to their parents) and friends of theirs, Travis and Rosey Zacharias, who are with the Mennonite mission and had studied Guarani with the Camerons. They have a little girl, Zippy (Ziporah), who is only 11 days older than Sammie. It was so cute to see Sammie playing with another girl the same age.

As this crew was leaving our friend and teammate Fiona arrived. She stayed with us Wednesday night through Saturday morning to get an idea of our ministry and to talk with a few Paraguayans whose lives have been impacted with the Gospel and the ministy of SIM. At 8 PM, four youth came to study and prepare with Dan for a Bible Challenge coming up the end of the month.

Thursday: more school, more rain in the morning and then visits in the afternoon. Dan and Fiona met with Petranila while I visited Dolly and the kids played at the church then Dan and Fiona sat with Dolly as well. We returned home at 5:30 pm in time for a quick dinner before prayer meeting at our house at 6 pm.

Friday: more school, I talked with my mom and then in the afternoon we took Fiona "out in the country" which involved some four wheeling. Pretty exciting stuff for the city girl! :) We ended the night by watching a movie and at 10:30 pm Greg Cameron stopped by for the night as he had had to make a late night hospital run from his town 3 hours away.

Saturday morning was Kids Club and then Dan took Eli and Toby to youth group in Caracara'i in the afternoon. There was supposed to be another study group at 8 pm tonight but no one showed up. Whew! We are ready for the Sabbath tomorrow and then family day.

It was all wonderful but a bit exhausting yet also preparing me for our new normal as our schedule is being completely altered due to school now. I have a feeling we are going to be having a lot of these "busy" weeks!

  1. I had such a great time with you - thanks for your wonderful hospitality and for letting me play with your kids - I love them!

I'm so glad you can use the photos I took...

I hope this week is a little calmer and you can feel you're beginning to properly settle into a routine!

Praying for you in all the busyness.
