It is a unique time for us with the church here as we begin to transition out and see our Home Assignment coming way too fast (can you say less than four months, ahhhhh)! You may remember we mentioned in our July update that we will not be returning to our Caazapá home in 2011. We are still waiting to break this news to our Paraguayan brothers and sisters but when we do I know it will come as a bit of a blow. In this I am reminded of when my father taught me to ride a bike. This is very fresh in my mind for two reasons: 1. I recently taught Eli to ride his bike and 2. My experience learning to ride was quite traumatic! I vividly remember my dad running behind me holding the seat of my bike. I peddled and raced onward confident that my dad was holding me up. However when I looked over my shoulder there stood my dad smiling… 50 feet back! Upon this realization I of course teetered… then fell in the grass with nothing more than my confidence in my father scathed. Yet, after the fear and anger subsided I realized that I really could ride a bike without my dad’s help. Wouldn’t you know that by the end of that day I was confidently riding by myself!
This is a bit like our situation with the church...
