As for the holidays...
What?!?! Christmas was last week?!?! New Year's Eve was yesterday?!?!
We didn't really let the holidays slip past us completely but now that we are into the new year we do have plenty of other things to think about!
However, here is a brief look at what we did do:
Christmas Eve we returned home from the city around 9:45 PM. I then proceeded to sweep and mop the entire house, scrubbed both bathrooms, got the kids stockings ready and went to bed by 1:30 AM. I was determined to have a clean house for Christmas Day! Kids woke up late (yes!), got dressed, quick breakfast, read the Christmas story, opened presents. For lunch we made individual super omelettes (kids loved it!) and played the rest of the day; enchiladas for dinner; skyped my family; fireworks to conclude the day (Sammie and our dog Piper both ran into the house to hide...they didn't like the fireworks too much).
New Year's Eve day Dan took a 2:00 AM bus to the city for dental work before the new year began. He ran errands and made it home around 9:30 PM. The kids and I decided to have a lazy day and watched movies, ate popsicles, and hung out by the kiddie pool. What a gorgeous day it was! NO humidity, cool breeze, wonderful (even at 90 degrees in the sun)! It was a refreshing day. After the kids were in bed, Dan and I watched Times Square LIVE on the computer till our midnight (no way we were making it to 2 AM for NY's New Year!) while playing UNO. As soon as we heard all the fireworks outside our window we knew it was 2010 in Paraguay. Now the new year is here and we have LOTS of changes coming up:
move to the US for a year / different house / different climate / the way we eat and prepare meals / the schedule of our days / how we celebrate special occassions / how we drive / lots of fun and new things to show the kids / and in general, how we live.
I know I will be writing all about it so stay tuned. Please keep praying for us as we strive to finish well here in Paraguay and then as we transition back to the US. Thank you! We cannot do this on our own.
Hi Sarah, it's so great we have this way to find out about each other's lives even though we're now far apart... I will be praying for you in all the packing and transitioning. For me, the snow was so much fun to return to, because it really doesn't snow that much here so when it does it's a treat and it made the cold seem much more purposeful! It didn't take long however, for the cold to go from 'refreshing' after such heat in Py, to just plain old 'cold!'
ReplyDeleteLove to you and Dan and the kids...
It looks like you guys had a wonderful Christmas! Look at all the beautiful smiles!
