“Excited, exhausted, expecting.”
Looking through an old PARENTING magazine I came across an article entitled “The Home Stretch” by Paula Spencer and read the words above. That about sums up how I’m feeling these days. People ask me how am I, am I uncomfortable? As I walked by two ladies at church on Sunday I overheard them say “Gordita”, fat little one. Yup. That’s me.
Here are some other comments I found that perfectly described how I am feeling these days, from the same article: “Pregnancy’s last trimester is a study in contrasts. You’re driven to rest, yet compelled to nest. Revved up, and worn-out. In these final weeks, you’re almost home, but every last day sure can stretch.”
Thinking about what is to come and realizing that I am about to have a fourth child in less than a month is a bit daunting. As I was changing Sammie today and she stood on the changing pad I realized how tall she was and thought, oh my, she is not going to be my baby doll anymore! She is going to be a big sister soon! This of course is a good thing. I do prefer one baby at a time. But the reality of time and changes to come just kind of made me sad and exhilarated all at the same time. I am thankful that the boys are excited about their new little brother and can’t wait to see him and hold him. I can’t wait to meet this little guy either and I am especially thankful that I have the Lord to give me strength and a strong, solid husband to lean on as well. So now we wait.
“Ready. Set. Wait.”
