9 Days Before Christmas...Looking Back

Day 4 of taking the 12 days before Christmas and looking back over the past 12 months remembering God's direction, faithfulness, and care over all that happened in an effort to remain grateful and humble and refocus on the true meaning of Christmas.

APRIL 2012

Happy Easter!

Big things that happened this month...my nephew (sister) turned one and my niece (sister-in-law) also turned one!!  We also finally got our kitchen cabinets and sink installed!  It took two days to get them fitted and into place.  You can imagine that when you are speaking with a carpenter who is 6 hours away, describing, showing pictures and giving measurements there are bound to be a few "adjustments" when they arrive.  Again so thankful for teammates with the know how to help those who don't know how!!

And...

We usually wait till our children turn three to start potty training but we thought, why not try early with Silas?  So we did.  It didn't work though.  Eventually we decided to just wait till he turned three in July.  (with much better results by the way)

That look says it all!!
There were team meetings, lunches with friends, kids' club, dinner with friends, more unpacking and getting everything arranged, diapers being changed, kids being read to and played with, and an occassional youth camp meeting.  Sometimes when Dan has meetings in Villarrica (2 hrs away) or Yuty (about an hr away) we go along as a family and visit our teammates so the kids can play with their friends and I get some visiting time too!  When we go to Villarrica it also usually involves grocery shopping as there is only a small local shop here in SF w/ much to be desired concerning groceries.  Its OK for the basic staples like flour and sugar and eggs (sometimes) and once in a while someone sells us a pig at our gate but other than that, we bring everything in.  Not much fruit and veggies here for sale except what's growing in my yard!  All of this is new to us and we aren't real gardener kind of people but we'll see.  We had lettuce, carrots, cilantro, tomatoe and spinach.  It is certainly set up from the previous owners to grow anything.  But, it is also a lot of work to keep up with everything that is currently in season...and for me, with five small children, not at the top of my "things I really want to do" in a given day.  But, we are trying.  For now.

It's always better to end with a cute baby!
